Q. Setting up your web hosting account

A. Below, you'll find a quick start guide for your hosting account with RTC Web Hosting. More detailed articles, covering most of the topics below, and then some, can be found within this same Knowledge Base.

Okay, so you've received your welcome email and your raring to go. There's a few things you need to do in order to get your website up and running:

1. Review your welcome email completely; it contains information critical to your account. Be sure to save your welcome email in a location where you won't lose it.

2. If you're transferring your domain name over to Squadwerks, be sure to update your domain registrar with the information provided in your RTC Web Hosting welcome email. The sooner you do this, the sooner your domain will propagate throughout the internet and become active. If you purchased your domain name through RTC Web Hosting, you don't need to do anything except wait for your domain name to propagate.

**DOMAIN PROPAGATION** Please note, there is nothing that we can do to speed up domain name propagation as this is a function beyond the control of RTC Web Hosting. Propagation is the process by which your domain name gets associated with our IP on every server worldwide. This process generally takes anywhere from 24-72 hours to complete. Our software will alert you via email when this process has completed.

3. Upload your files. Even though your domain name will likely not be active for 24-72 hours, you can still access your account via a browser or FTP; your welcome email contains details.

4. Access your account's control panel (cPanel). From here you can begin configuring various features; email setup is done here.

5. Prepare your site for launch!
